Special Events

Family Night
Sponsored by PTO, Family Night is a fellowship event offered annually in September to welcome parents and students back to school. A potluck supper is offered along with carnival games, puppets shows, temporary tattoos, and parent-child kickball. Students enjoy have the chance to drench their teachers in our water balloon machine, The Splashmaster 2000.

 

At dusk, our glow-in-the-dark kickball comes out to play along with glow necklaces or bracelets. Daycare is offered for parents of young children who wish to participate with their older children and need an extra hand. Moms can win a dessert to take home to their families. Rain or shine, Family Night offers the opportunity for new preschool families to meet grade school families and teachers in a fun setting. We welcome families to bring guests along for the night to encourage outreach opportunities as well.

Knights Junior Olympics
Sponsored by PTO, Knights Junior Olympics is offered annually during the final month of school. Prior to the Olympics, our grade school children are placed in colored teams that include students from each grade level. Eighth graders are selected as team captains. Each student provides a team-colored shirt to paint and have autographed by their team members. On Olympics day, students participate in a variety of track and field events. A ribbon ceremony takes place in the following week to present awards by grade level. All students receive at least one ribbon for participation in the Olympics.

Spirit Week
Also sponsored by PTO, Spirit Week is a fun-filled, dress-up week that takes place annually during February. Students can earn prizes for their participation in dress-up themes including Western Day, Retro Day, Crazy Hair Day, Character Day, and School Colors Day. Teachers are encouraged to participate and often join in the fun.

Science/Social Studies/Art Fairs
Offered annually, our various fairs provide our students with the opportunity to display their God-given talents for the enjoyment of parents, congregation members, and visitors. Projects are displayed throughout the school hallways and/or in the fellowship hall.

Preschool Carnival
Little Gospel Lights closes their school year with their annual Preschool Carnival. Games, snacks, and prizes are all a part of this fun-filled, parent-accompanied event. Each student is presented with an award that recognizes a unique talent or gift that he/she demonstrating throughout the school year. Parents receive their child's binder of alphabet pages completed throughout the year to view their progress in writing skills and letter recognition. Yearbooks and DVD yearbooks are passed out as well as photos taken throughout the school year by staff and parents.

End of the Year Field Trip

Sponsored by PTO, the End-of-the-Year Event is a K-8 field trip that takes place on the final day of school. Destinations vary by year but have included rollerskating and attending the various camps in the area where students have the opportunity to canoe, hike, roast marshmallows, do crafts, and go geocaching. Parent volunteers help supervise this lively event and help celebrate the closure of another school year.   This year the students will enjoy bowling and pizza!
